The Da Vinci Code part 1
I do not understand all the anxiety in Christendom over the release of the movie, The Da Vinci Code. I know it was a best seller (even if I haven't bought it, or even read it). I know it is a Ron Howard directed movie starring Tom Hanks, which means it will probably be a well-made movie. A MOVIE! FICTION! NOT REAL!!! If you go to your favorite book store or library, you will find the book in the FICTION SECTION. You will not find it in the documentary, biography or even religious section.
I can't decide which is more depressing; the fact that a number of Christians are having their faith challenged by a fictional work, or that so many Christian leaders feel the need to spend so much time and effort opposing and/or explaining a fictional work.
On the other hand, I do understand all the uproar. But that will have to come later.

Yes, I agree. Having read the book I must say I really enjoyed it. As a fictional work of course. Dan Brown is a great story teller. I will definitely watch the movie too.
Btw, this is Karen Reynolds from Mem. Rd. I now live in the Dallas area. I will be moving to Plano in July when I get married. We may be by to visit McDermott Rd.
I think the problem is that many people will think it historical fiction, and that although the novel is fiction, they will believe that many of the facts in the novel are true, and that Christianity is a man made thing.
I do not think it should be banned or boycotted, but I do think it is important to point out that the beliefs in the book, if accepted, are heretical: If Jesus was not God, we are dead in our sins. There is no other fact that is important. Christianity has no other gospel.
